Comparing a Three Season Room to a Four Season Room

Let’s start by discussing what a three season room is. It is essentially a screened-in porch or enclosed deck, but taken to the next level.

Are you thinking about adding to your home? Home additions are always an exciting project to undertake. Have you always wanted a sunroom? Then you have a pair of options. Three season rooms and four seasons rooms are worthwhile additions to your home’s design as they allow you to enjoy the outdoors no matter what time of year it is. Let’s compare them!

Three Season Room

Let’s start by discussing what a three season room is. It is essentially a screened-in porch or enclosed deck, but taken to the next level. For one thing, the three season room is much sturdier. For the most part, you can use these rooms in the spring, summer, and fall – which makes it perfect for this time of year! It is an add-on for decks and patios that are already in place. An exterior door separates this room from the rest of the home. Although it’s not insulated, space heaters can be used to extend usefulness in both the spring and the fall. Plus,  it has an amazing turnaround time – within a week or so – but this only applies if you already have a roof in place as with a screened-in porch. If the space is just a deck right now, then it will take more than a week for the project to be completed.

Four Season Room

You may have heard of four season rooms mentioned by other names. These other names are all-season or a year-round room. During the construction process, it is factored in so that it connects to the roofline and the exterior of your home. It’s meant to use your existing HVAC system so that you can use the room all year long, as indicated by its name. It’s open to the rest of the house, and it features an insulated set of walls along with an insulated floor and roof.
