Now that June is here, it’s time for some easy living. Although late spring and early summer can bring some scorchers, the hot days don’t have to be totally unbearable. You’ve probably always dreamed of a beautiful and comfortable porch for your home. It’s a place where you can relax in a rocking chair while you enjoy a cool breeze. Well, when you are drawing up plans for a custom home, you can turn this dream into a breathtaking reality!
The front door serves as the portal into your home. When you have a wrap-around porch, you’ve got another opportunity to take that idea to the next level. A glossy coat of paint highlights the different colors that make your home’s exterior look even brighter. Red is a particularly bold choice for the summertime. Cheerful doormats help make a difference, too.
Another great way to infuse your wrap-around porch with some new life is to place some new plants in planters on it. In other words, add more greenery to the scenery. Fern baskets hanging from the upper railings are a charming touch that you might not have thought of before. Meanwhile, you can attach window boxes to lower railings. Prefer to use ordinary garden boxes instead? That’s not a problem! These boxes give you more room to cultivate herbs and veggies that you want to use in your home cooking.
The right furniture makes a world of difference, as well. Since finding suitable chairs, couches, and swingsets is no easy task, strive for simplicity. For instance, coffee tables are an unexpected addition to your porch’s design. Still, they are a simple solution for where to sit and chat while in the shade – while enjoying some light refreshments at the same time. Consider the architectural style of your home; mixing and matching complementary pieces helps. As long as you aim for the “three separate areas of design” principle, you should be able to bring some complex yet tasteful balance to your surroundings.
Our last piece of advice has to do with outdoor fabrics. Find durable and weatherproof ones so that they won’t be ruined if they get soaked from heavy rains or bleached by plentiful sunshine. Seat cushions, pillows, and chenille throws add some extra vibrancy and visual pop!
